I have been noticing some posts on drug rehabilitation lately in the blogosphere. And everytime I read a post on that subject, I will think of a cousin I grew up with in my childhood years.

Meng lost his father at a young age and unfortunately, landed in bad company in his teens and became a drug addict under peer pressure and wrong influence. Due to the lack of proper guidance and knowledge, Meng did not received the appropriate support from any counsellor or his family. His mum had to make ends meet to feed three siblings and did not know how to help him. Eventually, he was then sent to a drug rebab to deal with his addiction recovery.

Nowadays, there are many drug recovery programs available in trusted drug rehabilitation centres and one of which is detoxification. This is a natural approach to treat patients who are afflicted with alcoholism and drug addiction. A full-fledged drug rehab centre like The Watershed has a professional medical team to deal with medical issues such as patients with asthma, blindness, diabetes, heart disease hypertension, seizure disorders, and HIV and AIDS.

In any treatments, education is key is help the addict in the road of recovery. With a proper, guided detox program, it will help rebuild the body of the patient, as the aspects of good health remain the continuing mission.

I think drug rehabs are necessary to drug addicts aside from counseling. It’s a good way to prevent them from using drugs and letting them realize the dangers of drugs.
