At the risk of repeating the previous comment, I agree that it depends on a persons bodyfat percentage. It's possible for someone to have a good set abs without doing any crunches, they just have a lower body fat percentage. Diet really is a big part of flattening you stomach. that said, doing crunches and other abdominal exercises will speed up the process as well as tone your stomach. A combination of both diet and exercises (not just abs but exercises for all your muscles) would be ideal.

I agree with the top poster, although it depends on your current bodyfat percentage at the moment. if your 10% or under then yeh the extra ab work may build your midsection up enough for your abs to be visible, but if your higher than 10% then chances are all the ab work in the world isnt going to help to give you visible abs, only diet is! Bare in mind those percentages will differ from person to person.

Balls really work. Or, if you don't have one. Put your palms under your bottom to support your lower back as you either do a crunch or raise your legs in the air (for a lower ab workout).

abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym. all the excecise in the world won't help without dieting, in fact bigger muscles will just push the fat further off your body giving you the appearance of being fatter.

I personally think that if you work on the right muscles in the gym, your abs will show. Dieting is not the word but choosing the right food groups for your body and eating a balance diet. Dieting is only needed if you are overweight or have excess pounds to lose. Bigger muscles do not push the fat further off your body. Â
