meal times with the family

Recent studies have shown that not only do children like to sit down at the dinner table and eat a meal with their parents, but they are more likely to eat a well-balanced, nutritious meal when they do.  The truth is, we can get so busy with our work and lives that getting the family together to eat at the same time can be a difficult chore. With work schedules, after-school activities, personal errands, and more activities, it seems we have less and less time.

If possible, why not designate at least one night per week to have a sit-down meal with your family? Sunday nights are great because you have more time to relax and it is usually not a work day.

Involving your children in the meal planning and preparation can be fun and meaningful.  This gives them a strong sense of self and the foundation for a lifetime of healthy meal planning and preparation.
