strike a balance for your kids
May 14, 2008 |
Sure, we mothers know that junk food and sugary stuff are not good for our children. Yet, which child does not go through the stage of craving for some chocs and lollies when they are little. I’m one of those moms who keep these sweet and sugary stuff from my boy in his first 2 years. But I know that it will be hard to say NO completely as soon as he goes to playschool as I don’t want him to feel overly deprived, which may lead to unpleasant situations. Do you want your child to start eating those colourful and attractive Jelly beans behind your back or worse still, steal them from the fridge? As a matter of fact, we all went through that stage where we scooped bags of yummy jelly beans from the candy store. Oh yes, you can even buy them online these days! Once a while, I believe it’s ok to treat your children with these sweet treats as long as they are educated about healthy eating too. Keeping these treats from them may not be the best thing to do sometimes.
Ultimately, we parents should make sure that our children eat a balanced diet comprising of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats.
