In Search of Natural Sleep Remedies

For reasons unknown, I wasn’t able to get a full sleep last night. I thought this could be caused by the cold tablet I had before bedtime but it seemed weird to me that this could be the cause. So I made it a point to read about some natural sleep remedies to promote health sleep.

I believe insomnia or sleep problems have become a modern’s day disease among those who are leading stressful and busy lives. Personally, I choose not to opt for prescription drugs for any sleep problems. Instead, natural sleep remedies can be a healthier option. There are many contributing factors to insomina – stress being a predominant one. One of those factors might be what you are eating during the day. In other words, your meals could be the culprit behind that insomnia. From my research, I learned that our bodies absorb certain foods and those foods could be working against your desire to sleep. Changing our diets is one of the healthiest ways to fix a sleeping problem naturally. It was said that lemons can be helpful to insomnia. Though I’m not exactly sure of how this works but I believe there’s no harm trying out. Years ago, I was so busy and stressed with my resumes and a friend suggested that I took a glass of warm milk to promote healthy sleep. Apparently, a chemical found in milk can help to contribute to a restful sleep.

There are many other natural sleep remedies and one of them is melatonin. Melatonin works with your own body to support its natural sleep cycle It’s combined with natural herbs to encourage relaxation. It is a hormone secreted by the body to establish your circadian rhythm (natural sleep cycle.) It’s the hormone that helps you to feel sleepy, close your eyes, and then slip easily into peaceful, deep sleep. Everyone wants a healthier way to a sleep problem. Holistic Treatment for Asthma and Sinusitis

My five year old has been getting sniffies and a phlegmy cough lately and it’s worrying me. After a visit to the doctor, I was told that he might have an asthmatic condition which led me to start reading more about holistic treatment for asthma and sinusitis. It is pretty normal that people with asthma tend to experience sinus infection at one point or another.

When asthma comes with sinus infection, a holistic treatment method can be a challenging one. When a person’s nose is blocked, the individual is forced to breath through their mouth which can likely trigger an asthma attack. Air breathed through the mouth is colder than the air breathed through the nose and cold air is known to trigger asthma attacks. Overuse of antibiotics, environmental factors, bacteria and fungi among others often increases the occurrence of asthma and sinusitis.

Asthma and sinusitis are considered as inflammatory diseases. Holistic treatment for asthma and sinusitis should include drinking enough fluids, nose irrigation, taking Vitamin C, echinacea, zinc, garlic, breathing clean air, avoiding allergens and regular exercise. Understand that sinusitis can worsen asthma. However, many patients who have successful treatment of their sinus infection find that their asthma also improves after some time. My fish food supplier was one of them whose wheezing had improved when his sinus was treated.

Controlling the inflammatory process in the nose can help to control asthma symptoms. And along with prevention and holistic treatment, maintaining a healthy well-balanced lifestyle and diet is the most important for most illnesses.

Best Natural Health Remedies: Tea Tree Oil

There are a few natural health remedies I love to get when I’m in down under. Besides stocking up on Manuka Honey and propolis (since I can’t be in New Zealand), I would make sure I stock up on tea tree oil, an essential oil extracted from the leaves of Melaleuca Alternifolia.

My son doesn’t like the woody scent but I love it to the core! Tea tree is known for its antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, insecticidal, and immune stimulant properties. When used as a natural remedy, the essential oil steam distilled from its leaves and twigs to treat range of ailments like cold, sores, acnes and even whooping cough. It also combats skin infections, insect bites, and minor wounds and is a remedy for oral infections.

No matter where I am, I always have a bottle of tea tree oil in my skincare pouch. Tea tree oil can be used directly without any carrier oil. It can be used undiluted as it is non toxic, non-irritating. It is ideal to perform a patch test your skin before using it.

I find it great for insect bites. Previously, in my workplace where I was working to sell my timeshare, I was bitten by some bugs and a few applications of tea tree had helped to clear it! Rubbing it on to scalp will help in getting rid of nits, dandruff and lice. Fights viruses, bacteria, fungi thereby boosting the immune system to ward off infectious disease. It is extremely effective when used undiluted on wounds, minor cuts and insect bites. It cures the affected area by penetrating the skin and leaving no scars. Those with acne problems should dab the oil on the pimple and it will soon clear up fast.

Those with respiratory troubles can find this helpful. Inhalation of few drops of this oil is a great relief for persistent colds, flu, toothache, and cough. A dab of tea tree oil around your nose will open up clogged nose soothing sinuses. With so many benefits, you can now understand this healing oil is one of my favourite natural health remedies!
