Natural Health Remedies for a Bad Throat

Last week, I was down with a terrible sore throat that led to a high grade fever. I prayed hard that I won’t need any antibiotics for that so I resorted to some of my favourite natural health remedies for a bad throat. I was using propolis and manuka honey (active 25+) once every other hour throughout the whole week.

I’m not sure if that was considered a strep throat but I knew that it could led to some serious infection. Streptococcus bacteria can be easily contracted through sneezing and coughing and it is possible to get strep throat simply by breathing the same air with an infected person. Children and teenagers are often confronted with strep throat but the illness can occur in adults just as well.

It is important to note that not all sore throats are strep throats. Sore throats are caused by infection with viruses and they tend to heal very quickly. In most cases, people with sore throat donĂt need any kind of medical treatment at all. Strep throat, however, needs special care and attention, as the illness can become serious. The symptoms of strep throat are usually more intense than those of sore throat and they may sometimes spread throughout the entire body (generalized state of fatigue, body weakness and muscular pain). Strep throat also needs specific medical treatment with antibiotics.

Serious symptoms that require immediate medical help are high fever, rash (a sign of infection with powerful bacteria), difficulties in swallowing, difficulties in breathing, intense throat pain, throat swelling and throat bleeding. If you detect the presence of these symptoms in your child, it is strongly recommended to pay a visit to a physician.

I’m glad that I recovered within three days and was off to buy some toys for my boy after that. So the next time you have a bad throat coming, try out the above natural health remedies of propolis and manuka honey.

Summer Tips in the Holistic Manner

Summer is here so here are some quick tips to look good holistically in the most natural way! It may sound too familiar, but sunscreen works and this is a must have during the summer days and all throughout the year whenever you are out and about. In addition to the right diet, protecting bare skin with sunscreen when you are outdoors keeps aging problems at bay down the years.

It’s no secret that what you eat can dramatically improve your health, but what you choose to put in your mouth can also improve the elasticity and resilience of your skin. Food high in water content works wonders for a youthful skin. As do antioxidants, like vitamins B, A, C, E, which help fight toxins like chemicals, which attack and damage skin. A multivitamin, too, goes a long way in giving you the adequate protection against collagen and skin cell damage that accelerate aging.

Omega fatty acids found in some edible oils help keep your skin firm and elastic, improve the health of your hair and protect you from heart disease. One of the best sources of omega acids is Flax oil. If you want to double the benefits, sprinkle some flax seeds on your food as well.

Drinking up lots of water and juices is the most natural way to keep hydrated and keep your body cool this summer. When you’re thirsty, drinking lots of liquids helps, but there is nothing like water to quench your thirst. So when you go shopping for that perfect pair of rocawear jeans, don’t forget to bring along your water bottle in your shopping bag. Water helps to keep your skin youthful and well hydrated. And draw out and eliminate toxins.

Natural Health Remedies and Obesity

As we consider natural health remedies to weight loss, we need to understand that sedentary lifestyle is also one of the principal causes for obesity. It has been proven that physical activity is one of the greatest factors in the body’s use of energy. The increase in physical activity allows the intake of more calories and helps a person achieve a more favorable caloric balance in the body.

Obesity is on the rise because food is abundant and physical activity is optional or less than what is required to maintain one’s health. The number of obese and overweight people is increasing dramatically all over the world. The USA was the first country to notice its people were getting fatter and fatter.

[DFR::455600156-7669-ss|align_left_1]Some of us are familiar with the show ‘The Biggest Loser’ and we are amazed at the transformational changes of some of the contestants. These individuals didn’t take any safest weight loss pills, neither did they take any drugs, all they did was eat right and exercise day and night. Although there are genetic and hormonal influences on body weight, excess weight is a result of an imbalance of calories consumed versus calories burned through physical activity. If you consume more calories than you expend through exercise and daily activities, you gain weight. Your body stores calories that you don’t need for energy as fat.
