Holistic Treatment and Vegetables for Kids

Since arriving Brisbane, we have been eating more raw vegetables and I’m preparing more salads than before. In all holistic treatment, raw vegetables and fruits contain nutrients and minerals that are beneficial for our body. And it’s good to train young children to take raw vegetables and fruits too.

If you want your child to eat vegetables, improve your own attitude towards eating them. Early in age, child tends to mimic either or both parents for almost everything. If you as a parent dislike any particular vegetable, your child will do the same. If you encourage holistic health, they will also learn a thing or two about it. I was reading about Offshore Injury online and I found a few tips to inspire children to eat vegetables in their daily diets.

How you eat and what you eat affects your child directly. If you want your child to eat something that you dislike, you have to make an attempt to eat it first and then encourage your child to try a spoonful or plateful of it. It is not easy to get children to like any new food the first time. Keep reintroducing them from time to time.

Some tricks of trade that you can try to get your child to eat vegetables.

– Blend vegetables in a blender and add them to spaghetti sauce or liven up any non-veg dish.

– Keep a plateful of green salad, either in raw or grated form. You can toss up a salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, lettuce, carrots, cabbage, onion, and radish and so on. You can have salads either at mealtime or in between meals, as a snack.

– While making sandwiches for lunch, add lettuce, tomato slice or carrots in between. Chicken, tuna or pasta salads taste great with dash of vegetables in it.

– If your child thrives on noodles, add boiled or lightly steamed vegetables to it.

– While making pizza, add chopped broccoli, spinach, etc in addition to other toppings.

Green Tea as a Natural Remedy

We have had a hot summer week and all I want is to drink lots of water all day. Our family does not have the habit of drinking soft drinks and we prefer plain water throughout the day. Water is much needed to keep our body hydrated and healthy and drinking a minimum of eight glasses a day is just the first step to living holistically and it’s a simple natural health remedy to some ailments.

In the hot days of summer it is easy to reach for a soda to help you cool off. However sodas do not really quench your thirst and there are some other healthier more refreshing alternatives. One of the most refreshing ways to cool off on a hot summer day is drinking a tall glass of iced tea and what better than making it green tea? The Orientals have long known the benefits of drinking green tea though the modern ones are drinking that with their a href=”http://www.famous-smoke.com/brand/ashton+classic+cigars”>ashton cigars. In fact so important is this drink in these countries that there is special tea drinking rituals associated with this beverage. Japan is especially famous for this.

Green tea: Is made from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis tree. The best green tea is grown in Japan and is harvested in the spring months. Now Australia is trying to cultivate it so that green tea can be available in other months and supply the increasing need for this beverage. Recent research is revealing that this tea is particularly beneficial for your health. It is higher in antitoxins than the traditional black tea drunk in the West. Green tea has also been found to have vitamin C and fluoride in the field of natural health remedies.

Green tea has more of these properties than the traditional black teas because of the way it is processed It goes through little or no processing (fermenting or oxidizing) this brings out the antioxidants and vitamins but will reduce the stimulant quality (caffeine) of this tea.

The best way to make green tea hot or cold is to make it with loose leaves. These are easily available in many grocery stores and most health food stores. When making iced tea it is good to steep the tea for about 20-30 minutes. You can just pour the hot water on it and let it cool slowly. Fast cooling will not allow the full taste to come out; so slow cooling at room temperature is best.

Natural Health Remedies for Coloured Hair

Do you agree that women spend more time on their outward appearance than men? Whether it’s the face, hair or skin, more women are seeking natural health remedies in their quest for better looks and health.

Giving the hair a colour to cover up those grey hairs or to spruce up the overall look for an occasion is never a new thing. My mom coloured her hair when I was a little girl and I could never understand why until I became an adult myself. More women are colouring their hair these days and due to the rising concerns of the load of chemicals in hair dyes, there are now alternatives for those who worry about the risks of carcinogenicity in traditional hair dyes. In the past, hair dyes contain aromatic amines and chemicals which had shown to cause cancer in animals and thus, manufacturers had stopped using them. However there is still an ongoing debate on the potential risks of carcinogens used in thousands of chemicals found on the hair dyes today. These days, women put in lots of time to strengthen their hair roots and scalp by using natural and organic hair shampoos and taking biotin supplement. You can also find safer solutions to colour your hair by choosing products that avoid hydrogen peroxide and ammonia. I was told that choosing highlights can reduce the amount of chemicals contacting your skin as compared to a permanent colour. And if you need to give a permanent color to your hair, then choose those that are natural and derived from plant extracts. A good health and organic store may stock these products. Henna is a a good alternative to give shine and colour to dark hair but caution must be exercised as too much of it can produce a red and auburn look.

An effective and natural option would be using chamomile if you have blonde or light brown hair. Steep 1/2 cup of dried flowers in a litre of boiling water for 30 minutes. Strain and cool then pour liquid through clean and washed hair 15 times.. Leave it for 15 minutes before rinsing. See how it goes. A faster alternative would be the use of 2 lemons to a litre of water. Dry your natural naturally in the sun for better results.
