Counter Allergies with Natural Health Remedies

The weather is turning cold in the last few weeks and I’m geared up for the autumn season. Being our first autumn in this new home, I’m ardent in getting all the natural health remedies in place for a stronger immune system during this cold season. More so, I’ve always had allergies issues so I really need to be more prepared for the season change.

I read that almost 40 percent of the human population will suffer from allergies at some point in their lives. Allergies refer to common symptoms such as itchy eyes, stuffy nose, coughing and sneezing. These can make one feels tired and weak. Many people often wonder if they can avoid allergies by doing things differently in their day-to-day routines. If you know something about natural health remedies, you would know that dust mites, pollens and mold can trigger allergies for those who have sensitivities. Different factors determine the levels of these substances on a regular basis. If pollen levels are high, you will be more likely to suffer from allergies. The best way to avoid these substances is to stay indoors and to dust and clean often. If you go outside, make sure you shower or bathe as soon as you return home. This will wash off any unwanted substances like pollen or dust which may be on your clothing or your body. One of the natural health remedies for this is to get a air purifier or take some quercetin supplements. I was telling hubby that we should look into a good Medicare plan for our family so that we are well covered for any medical attention.

Another thing to note is that if your immune system is too weak to fight off the allergies, you will end up suffering for a good part of the year. Your immune system may be weak for a couple of reasons. As far as natural health remedies is concerned, you would need to get enough vitamins and minerals for your immune system. If you don’t, it can become ineffective in fighting allergies and other forms of viruses or infections. Also, your immune system may be low due to mental stress. Mental stress can make you physically weak and cause your body to shut-down. When this happens, your immune system shuts down as well. To strengthen your immune system make sure you get lots of vitamins, eat a healthy diet and avoid stress as much as possible.

Gardening is Relaxing

It has been a busy two weeks with school holidays and the long easter break. I haven’t been sleeping too well due to a bad neck and I can’t wait for a good chiropractic massage next week. I find myself scrunching for time to relax and one of the best ways is to get into the garden and do some herb pruning!

When it comes to relaxation, there are many things one can do. Besides laying on the couch with a good book and sipping a cup of coffee in the lounge, I love gardening. It is relaxing and fulfilling for me to see my herbs grow and thriving. One of the things I love to get is a bonsai tree for my garden. Though I know little about pruning or looking after a bonsai, I like the look of it. Having one in the patio or lounge table will be nice and I’m only concerned if my six year old will ‘prune’ it since he likes to keep himself busy! Since Mother’s day is around the corner, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get hubby to buy me a nice bonsai, huh?

For now, I would better head off to my garden to prune those herb plants of mine before the next bout of rain is here!

Getting a Little More Sleep

Sleep is such an important part of holistic treatment. It’s school holidays this week and that means I can sleep in a little more and not have to wake up early to prepare breakfast for my son in the morning! A little more sleep matters to me when I have a late night and this is even more helpful when I have a sinus attack.

Do you know that insufficient sleep can cause sinusitis and respiratory troubles? This is alright for people who don’t suffer from sinusitis but if you have a sensitive nose or airway, then you should ensure eight hours of sleep everyday. It’s okay to break some rules once a while and it isn’t going to hurt. But you are stressed up, sleep is important in helping your body recovering from fatigue and it will help keep your health in check too. So it’s school holidays and our family is enjoying our newgy ping pong table together. We enjoy recreational activities indoor and outdoor and this way, we can keep the family closer together. This afternoon, we are heading off to a rainforest retreat for a little break and to get closer to nature. I’m praying that the mountain air can do more sinusitis and eczema some good and I hope to get better sleep during this short break.

What are you doing for a better sleep everyday? Or when is the last time you get a good sleep? Don’t forget that a sleep deprived body can lead to many sicknesses and health troubles. That’s the basic of holistic treatment knowledge.
