Try out these simple steps to lower your cholesterol levels

Now that I have a high reading in my cholesterol levels, I’m paying special attention to my diet and lifestyle habits with vigilance. We all know that a good way to start a healthy diet is to have a breakfast. Instead of eating bread, the individual can consume oatmeal instead. Studies have shown this can lower the cholesterol in the body by more than 20% after just two weeks of use.

It is tough to just have oatmeal in the morning. Sometimes, the individual can have a fruit such as an apple. Studies have shown that people who eat at least 2 full apples a day or drink 12 ounces of apple juice are able to reduce the chances of heart diseases by 50%. This can be purchased at the supermarket and eaten during anytime of the day such as dessert after a light meal or as a snack.

During lunch or dinner, the person must have some vegetables in the meal. Those who order can have fish or poultry instead of eating red meat. Such dishes are not high in saturated fats, which are healthier. Those who love to cook at home can try mixing some healthy things ingredients in the meal. One example is garlic that has natural properties that can declog the arteries and again lower the odds of succumbing to heart disease.

all about the heart

I took an interest in the medical profession and various medical programs after visiting a health education website: http://www.sblandover.com/.

Perhaps, the term Cardiovascular Disease covers a large number of diseases that directly affect the heart and the blood vessel system. It especially affects the veins and arteries that lead to and from the heart. Research has suggested that women who suffer with cardiovascular disease usually suffer from forms that affect the blood vessels. While men usually suffer from forms that affect the heart muscle itself. Other known or associated causes of cardiovascular disease include diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia.

Heart disease and strokes are other common cardiovascular diseases. Two independent risk factors that have a major impact for heart diseases, cardiovascular diseases, are high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol.

Today heart disease does not have to be a death sentence. There are healthy lifestyle choices that can be made and science has come a long way in the early detection of heart disease.

eat and snack healthy in front of the tv

Someone commented in one of my recent posts that who can resist popcorn and chips in front of the TV. I totally agree! Not too long ago, I bought a can of organic raisins for a good friend and to my shock and horror, he finished the entire can within a week! That same can would usually last my family a month!

I would believe that with today’s modern and advanced home theatre options and theater seating, people tend to end up snacking more in front of the TV. You can still enjoy a snack or two with the family and all it takes is to choose wisely. You may want to try out The Genisoy family of soy protein products – soy nuts, trail mixes, soy crisps, potato soy crisps and low carb bars.
