My Belief in Natural Health Remedies

I know some people don’t quite believe in natural health remedies and believe me, I’ve never bothered about converting them. Sometimes they make cynical remarks about organic health and such but I think they have alot to do on their part to find out more about it.

And to those who constantly look out for natural health remedies, the search for this body of knowledge will continue to grow. I’ve been traveling quite abit in the last few weeks and wherever I go, I’ll bring my manuka honey, propolis, green food powder and some essential vitamins. I don’t like to fall ill when I’m traveling and it’s my responsibility to eat, rest and play well. So I make it a point to drink a glass of green drink in the morning and a few drops of propolis is great to ward off any bacteria or viruses. I know not every one believes in what I’m doing but like what I said earlier, there’s no need to convince anyone. In one of my trips, I stumbled upon some exit signs on the floor and had some cuts. All it took was a few drops of tea tree oil and the bleeding stopped right away.

If you are traveling, always remember to drink lots of pure, clean water as dehydration can be the cause to certain illnesses such as colds, coughs and fever. You don’t need to be a strong believer of natural health remedies to know this but always remember to take charge of your health.

Natural Health Remedies for Insomnia

When searching for natural health remedies for insomnia, I learned that traditional medicine offers many alternatives for people who have suffered from serious insomnia. Ask someone suffering from chronic insomnia and you will learn that sleeping pills are a commonly prescribed remedy.

Although they do adequately treat the insomnia, they also often have serious side-effects. One of the most serious side-effects is that they can be addictive. It becomes a trade-off for those who choose this approach. Although their insomnia is treated, they become dependent on medication and in some cases have to stay on that medication for the rest of their lives. I was shopping for designer ties when I stumbled upon a friend I had not met for years. She has been suffering from Insomnia and had recently turned to natural health remedies.

There are natural alternatives that a person can take to treat the insomnia. Some of these are in the form of a pill or a tablet which consists of a combination of herbs. Herbal teas are another popular choice for people who suffer from sleep problems. You simply brew a pot of the fragrant tea and sip it shortly before bed. The soothing effects of the tea lull you to sleep without the chemicals associated with traditional sleep medication. Many people turn to when they suffer from the occasional bout of insomnia is to warm a glass of milk. There is a chemical that is released in milk once it is heated. This chemical is called tryptophan and it works to relax the body and help you to drift off to sleep.

Natural Health Remedies for a Bad Throat

Last week, I was down with a terrible sore throat that led to a high grade fever. I prayed hard that I won’t need any antibiotics for that so I resorted to some of my favourite natural health remedies for a bad throat. I was using propolis and manuka honey (active 25+) once every other hour throughout the whole week.

I’m not sure if that was considered a strep throat but I knew that it could led to some serious infection. Streptococcus bacteria can be easily contracted through sneezing and coughing and it is possible to get strep throat simply by breathing the same air with an infected person. Children and teenagers are often confronted with strep throat but the illness can occur in adults just as well.

It is important to note that not all sore throats are strep throats. Sore throats are caused by infection with viruses and they tend to heal very quickly. In most cases, people with sore throat donĂt need any kind of medical treatment at all. Strep throat, however, needs special care and attention, as the illness can become serious. The symptoms of strep throat are usually more intense than those of sore throat and they may sometimes spread throughout the entire body (generalized state of fatigue, body weakness and muscular pain). Strep throat also needs specific medical treatment with antibiotics.

Serious symptoms that require immediate medical help are high fever, rash (a sign of infection with powerful bacteria), difficulties in swallowing, difficulties in breathing, intense throat pain, throat swelling and throat bleeding. If you detect the presence of these symptoms in your child, it is strongly recommended to pay a visit to a physician.

I’m glad that I recovered within three days and was off to buy some toys for my boy after that. So the next time you have a bad throat coming, try out the above natural health remedies of propolis and manuka honey.
