]It is not uncommon to hear of cases of people with severe anxiety who have lost their jobs and failed in their relationships. For these people who have become victims of anxiety attacks, life has become a mere matter of survival — bereft of happiness, fulfillment, and health. It’s good to find moments of happiness and comfort from close family and friends. Sometimes taking a vacation can be beneficial for the anxious individual. Even shopping for christmas gift ideas for friends can be a form of good mental therapy as it takes your mind off stressful situations.

Some people can cope with depression and anxiety. But for a significant number of people who do not have the ability to cope with stress and anxiety, the only means to regain their life is to undergo therapy and, if necessary, take anxiety medications. These anxiety medications, if accompanied by therapy conducted by professionals, offer relief and possibly permanent protection from the debilitating effects of stress and severe emotional distress. Anxiety medications often vary in the dosage and desired effects. However, what is common among these anti-anxiety medications is the ability of these drugs to suppress unnecessary chemical and emotional surges. Controlling these chemical and emotional surges allow a person with anxiety to regain a sense of peace and tranquility.

Pamper Your Mind and Body

The weekends is here again and I can sense a relief from many who look forward to a break. It’s so important to give your mind and body a well deserved break when you have been tied down with work and responsibilities all week!

One can take a break in many ways. You may want to head to the beach to hear the splashing waves, go for a walk or hike, take your bicycle to the park, attend a cooking class, go for a manicure and pedicure, go for a massage, sleep in and have your breakfast served in bed, stay at home and smell the roses, go shopping, head to the movies….etc. As for me, weekends is time with the family and sending my child to his extra curriculum classes and do some shopping for the house. I need to check out the ipad insurance this weekend since I had bought one two weeks ago.

With so many things you can do, there is no excuse not to give your mind and body a pampering break. Most importantly, enjoy what you will be doing and fill your heart with laughter. Didn’t they say that a merry heart does good like a medicine?

Recently I heard about a ‘laughing seminar’. At first I thought it sounded weird or loony. Later, I learned that the people who attended the seminar did nothing but laughed and laughed throughout the day. It was like a therapy session where the speaker thought people to just laugh. The program was well received and attended which made me realized that many people were deprived of joy, happiness and perhaps optimism in their lives.

Sometimes, we depends on birth announcements, wedding announcements and even vacations to make us happy. But you and I know that happiness are influenced and brought about by events and people (external factors) and when taken away, we will lose it as well. But inner joy and peace comes from deep within, even when things aren’t going our way. This may not be easy to attain as we are surrounded by life’s stresses, pressures and demands but when we anchor our trust in the divine powers of the living God, our joy rooted in Him can’t be robbed away easily.

So if you have tried all kinds of natural health remedies, then you may want to try out adding more laughter in your life. I can’t promise it will take away your sicknesses and problems but it sure can bring you peace of mind, better health and a restful spirit. This is something I need too in my life: More laughter in 2010 :)
