Magnesium is one of the necessary chemical elements in our intestinal tract and is required by every cell of the body. It helps to create good muscle tone and moves toxic material along. Magnesium plays an important in our body. As an essential electrolyte, it works with calcium and phosphorus to build bones. It relaxes our nerves and refreshes our system. It also helps to prevent and relieve constipation and autointoxication, regulates the heart and converts foods to energy.

Foods that are high in magnesium include grapefruit, oranges, figs, corn, wheat bran, coconut milk and eggs. To avoid magnesium depletion, you may like to consider adding magnesium supplement in your daily diet. For faster absorption, choose liquid magnesium supplement, which may be mixed in water or juice. Indications of deficiency of magnesium include migraine headaches, chronic asthma and even depression. However, excess magnesium can depress the respiration and central nervous system which can lead to death.
