healthy grocery shopping for a healthier home

Grocery shopping is something we all have to do, even though choosing the right foods can be very hard indeed. Last weekend, while doing our regular grocery shopping after visiting the computer store for some digital stuff and laptop memory, we spotted a family whose shopping cart was full of snacks and junk foods.

Here are some tips to assist you in your healthy grocery shopping expedition for a healthier home:

1) Select canned fruits and tuna that are packed in water, not oil or syrup.

2) Look at the labels for the words “hydrogenated” or “partially hydrogenated”. The earlier you see
them appear on the list, the higher the amount of unhealthy trans fatty acids the food will contain.

3) If you plan to buy chicken, select chicken breast for a healthier choice.

4) Go for whole grain breads, cereals, and rolls.

5) Ask yourself if you really need those sugary drinks. Why not buy some fresh fruits and juice them instead?

the myths of healthy eating

As we strive to eat healthy and practice good lifestyle habits for the good of our health and beauty needs, it is important to avoid listening to some myths on healthy eating.

1) Eating what you want

Eating healthy and exercising doesn’t mean you can eat anything you want. Everyone needs the same nutrients whether they exercise or not, as well as fruits and vegetables. You can exercise everyday and put on the best beauty products but you don’t choose the right foods to eat, no best acne treatment can treat your face from acne problems.

2) Skipping breakfast

Skipping breakfast is never a good idea, as breakfast starts the day. Your body needs fuel as soon as possible, and without it, you’ll be hungry throughout the day. Beginning the day with a glass of fresh vegetable or fruit juice is a good choice too.

3) Not enough calories

Although losing weight involves calories, losing it too quickly is never safe. What you should do, is aim for 1 – 2 pounds a week. Always make sure that you are getting enough calories to keep your body operating smoothly.
